East Carolina University Subunit Update

Greetings from the East Carolina University Student (ECU) Subunit of the American Fisheries Society. This Fall we would like to share some of the exciting events that we have taken part in this semester. But first, here is our current officer list:

• Treasurer: Andrew McMains
• Faculty Advisor: Dr. Rebecca Asch

To recruit new members, we got involved in several recruitment and outreach events across campus. Our subunit has also begun to partner with other groups across campus to help assist with stream cleanups and sustainability events to help make campus cleaner and sustainable!

We are looking forward to a great year with events planned for our members such as fishing trips, kayaking, shark tooth hunts, and increasing our presence at both regional and national conferences! Go Pirates!

Our meetings this semester will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 both virtually and on campus in ECU’s Life Science and Biotechnology Building in Greenville N.C. For more information on speakers and events and to get involved please reach out or follow us on Instagram @ecu.afs.
