Dave Rudders has graciously agreed to serve as the Tidewater Chapter’s president-elect, and with that, to take on the responsibilities of planning our next annual meeting, to be held in Hampton, Virginia, late February 2024.
Since 2018, Dave has served as the Associate Director of the Marine Advisory Program at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in Gloucester Point, providing leadership for a portfolio of extension activities that include marine education, coastal communities, aquaculture, and fisheries.
An Assistant Research Professor in the Natural Resources Section at VIMS, his research interests focus on applied fisheries questions in systems from the near coastal to the outer continental shelf with a specific interest in the sea scallop fishery of the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.
Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in zoology from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst, and master’s and doctoral degrees in marine science with a focus on fisheries science from the College of William and Mary School of Marine
Science at VIMS.
